Welcome to drum circling! This group functions through participation in a “laboratory” learning environment focused upon group interaction through a community drumming experience.

We will utilize hand drumming techniques and articulate its applications in drum circling while gaining insight into the relationship between drumming, group interaction, community development, tolerance, relaxation, trust building, and personal healing.
The course seeks to develop physical coordination, mental agility, and dynamic musical interaction starting at the beginner level. Musical components developed include the mechanics of tone production on a variety of drum circling instruments, group improvisation and interaction, and personal expression through drumming.
Through drum circling, topics of listening, leadership, and facilitation will be discussed, encouraging participants to take their newfound drumming knowledge and experience and share it in their own communities.
No previous reading skills, musical backgrounds, or equipment is required.
