About the Curator & Performers
Maynard “Terrell” Woods / Carnage The Executioner / TERRELL X started his musical journey in 1984 – at age 10. Since then, he has spent the last 30 years professionally making music, motivational speaking, performing as a one-man band, traveling the world, and educating all ages of people from various socio-economic backgrounds.
20 years of teaching human beat boxing/vocal percussion, song writing and composing short stage plays has helped Terrell build an impressive artist resume that extends all the way to Europe (5 tours between 2011 and 2013) and South East Asia (toured in 2018).
Carnage has stated he can best be described as an Improvisational Jazz Human Beat Boxer and Rhythmic Storytelling.
Carnage is a self-contained instrument, natural curator and collaborator. The Minneapolis Star Tribune made the claim that “Carnage’s mouth might be the best drummer in town,” referring to his human beat boxing techniques.
Carnage is a shameless survivor of poverty, physical and emotional abuse, who makes no excuses for his upbringing. Instead, he draws inspiration from it to practice self-reflection. Carnage began living a plant-based lifestyle in 2017. His commitment to eating a vegan diet has allowed him to see the importance of showing empathy towards animals. In 2019, Carnage started a grassroots movement called Plant Based Poets. His mission is to unite lovers of music, as well as people who encourage freedom for each and every living being who depends on the health of Earth’s roots for survival.
On his 2019 album, “Ravenous,” Carnage is extremely honest about often embracing negativity, over-eating and attracting whatever attention he could ingest. After losing 150+ pounds and gaining a clearer mindset, Carnage believes it’s his calling to become an everlasting example of how we can all continuously strive to be better versions of ourselves.
Carnage is currently receiving attention with his new album, “TRANSFORMATION TO TERRELL X”. Carnage’s signature mouth-drumming, thick oral basslines and vocal scratching are on full display – combined with Soul Music samples from the 60’s – 80’s. This is Carnage’s first totally self-produced album, boasting a diverse bed of sounds that provide a backdrop for his tails of struggle, growth, self-discovery and triumph. TTTX is also his most accessible and profound project to date, reflecting the experiences of a fearfully-hardened boy with a rugged persona, turned courageously-vulnerable man — traveling to define his true identity.
DJ Piecemeal:
It’s difficult to classify Minneapolis-based artist, Dj Piecemeal, as simply a ‘DJ’. Although what he displays is rooted in Hip-Hop, it’s his Nerd Culture influence that makes him a refreshing addition to any live show. Dj Piecemeal pairs genre-bending spinning with tasteful visual antics that enable him to stand out and blur the lines.
Piecemeal is respected for his theme-driven live sets — tailored to fit any occasion. He’s the perfect event opener, in-between-acts spinner and closer. From livestreams on Twitch to live performances, this song mash-up technician and impromptu track supplier creates memorable and in-the-moment soundscapes and fun times for listeners and spectators.
Michael Rose – Drums
Michael Rose was born on August 18, 1990, in Minneapolis Minnesota, where he would later cultivate his love for music. At the age of eight, Michael discovered his passion for the drums while attending Solid Rock Church. Inspired by his uncle, who was also a drummer at the church, he took the initiative to teach himself how to play. With the church’s vibrant musical environment as his foundation, Michael began to hone his craft, developing a unique style that combined technical skill with heartfelt expression. While he initially focused on becoming a proficient gospel drummer, he soon realized that the drums were more than just an instrument to him—they were a vital outlet for expressing his inner self. Michael embraced the different musical styles available to him, branching out into 80s rock, R&B, hip hop, fusion, and funk. One thing that he deeply believes is that music is not just a pastime but a profound means of connection and expression.
