Amy Wightkin teaches clarinet and joined the Individual Instruction, Classes & Ensembles, and School Partnerships faculty in Austin in 2020. Previously, Amy has been a band director in Mankato and Faribault, teaching students ranging from grades 5-12.
Amy’s goal is to teach students to be self-sufficient and self-aware musicians. She knows that each student has great potential and gives them the tools they need to be successful in practicing and performing. She has worked with students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Amy has been an active performer on clarinet and percussion throughout greater Minnesota. She is a member of Austin Symphony Orchestra, Owatonna Symphony Orchestra, and Minnesota River Valley Wind Ensemble. She has performed in pit orchestras for Summerset Theatre and Riverland Community College in Austin.
Amy holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from St. Olaf College.
