Barbara Henry
Barbara is thrilled to return to the MacPhail Center for Music! She taught at MacPhail in both the 1980’s and 1990’s before relocating to Milwaukee, WI. where she taught in both the collegiate and community music school environments. For the last nine years Barbara taught piano and was the Music Department Chair at Mount Mary University (MMU) in Milwaukee, WI while also maintaining a home piano studio where she taught private lessons to children, teens and adults. Prior to MMU she taught piano at and was the Director of Education at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee, WI.
Barbara enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels in both private and group instruction. She uses a comprehensive approach and her philosophy is to identify each student’s learning style, abilities and interests and to teach to the individual. She has a long history of student success, enjoyment and retention and she likes to make learning a fun experience!
Barbara Henry has a 2018 publication, geared towards teenagers and adults, available entitled, First 15 Lessons: Piano, A Beginner’s Guide, Featuring Step-By-Step Lessons with Audio, Video, and Popular Songs!
Barbara has both a Master of Music degree from UW-Madison and a Bachelor of Music degree from the SUNY-Fredonia in piano performance.
