Dennis Peterson has been teaching voice at MacPhail since 2015. He brings over three decades of worldwide operatic stage experience to his teaching, as well as having owned a private studio for more than 30 years. Dennis has taught one semester as a visiting professor at The University of Iowa, and one semester at Shattuck St. Mary’s.
Dennis provides a practical perspective to pass on to his students. His teaching techniques are designed to the repertoire that the student desires to perform. Each student is unique, and he works hard to honor that uniqueness.
He has sung over 200 roles in opera companies around the world. Some notable performances are with the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Seattle Opera, Florence Opera, Spoletto Festival, Santa Fe, New York City Opera, Mastumoto Japan, and many others.
Dennis holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Iowa, and is a graduate of the Merola Program with the San Francisco Opera.
