Linda Hibbard has used her love of music as a path to make the arts accessible to all. With a degree in Music Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, she has spent 22 years teaching piano and working as a Music Therapist. Many of those she has worked with experience significant barriers, limiting their participation in everyday life due to cognitive disabilities, limited or no verbal communication, and significant physical challenges. Furthermore, Linda operated as an Executive Director of a non-profit serving adults with disabilities, spearheading the development of the arts program through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Linda is passionate about using music to strengthen cognitive, physical, and emotional health. Since joining MacPhail’s Music for Life 55+ program, she has seen how music is creating space for seniors to experience success. The program focuses on what the students are still able to do, encouraging self-expression and cultivating social connections – all leading to a higher quality of life.
