Patrick “Patsy” O’Brien

Location: Minneapolis

Patrick O’Brien is a guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and songwriting teacher in the MacPhail Music for Life™ department of MacPhail since 2021. He has 20 years of experience in private instruction and workshops, hosted nationwide and virtually, in guitar technique and songwriting. Patrick’s goal with any workshop or lesson is to ensure the student’s queries are answered fully and that they are presented with a clear path forward.

In 2003, he was awarded Best Songwriter by American Folk Alliance (CT chapter). And, his original arrangement of traditional Irish ballad, The Star of County Down was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered.

Patrick holds a certificate in Professional Musicianship from Newark School Of Music in Dublin, Ireland.
