Paul Kinkade

Piano, Guitar, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Electronic Music
Location: Minneapolis

Paul Kinkade is a pianist, guitarist, composer, improviser, and music theory geek with a stylistic background spanning rock, jazz, pop, blues, classical, electronic, and more. He is deeply immersed in improvisation, both in stylistically determined formats (e.g. jazz) and in free improvisation. He has composed extensively for solo piano, and has recorded rock, indie, and electronic albums. He mixes and masters his own music.

Paul helps students chart a unique path through the musical landscape by having them study and understand the music that excites them most. He believes students learn the most when practicing is fun, and he teaches methods for practicing effectively. He views adventurous music listening as the foundation of musical development.

Paul practices meditation and explores the ways that meditation can enhance music practice, performance, and improvisation. He earned a B.A. in Music in 2017, with an emphasis on music history, music theory, and world music. He has played the piano since he was three and a half feet tall, and the guitar since he was about four foot eight.
