Roland Hawkins
Roland describes his teaching style as free fluid singing based on solid vocal technique and a firm breathing foundation. Through this bedrock we create a pallet of colors and craft different tools for our tool box to create the picture and/or story we want to tell in whichever medium we are in. Roland specializes in classical Aria, oratorio, art song, musical theater standards as well as live cabaret and pop music.
Roland Hawkins II, Voice Instructor who has studied with Audrey Stottler, John DeHaan and, Dr Robert Larsen. Roland has received further study with multiple young artist programs and studio training opportunities including Des Moines Metro Opera’s young artist program and Kenwood performances with the University of Minnesota. Having competed in multiple genres of music receiving awards in both local and national competitions, Roland is currently a working performer around the US, with upcoming local performances with Minnesota Opera and Theater Latte Da. Roland has used this experience to teach a wide range of students from primary school to post undergraduate studies. Working with students individually as well as private schools and institutions Roland has had over a decade of in classroom experience teaching students with a variety of talents and goals.
