Susan Sophocleus joined MacPhail’s Suzuki piano faculty in 2009. Susan teaches students ages 4 to 18 and follows the principles of the Suzuki method. She has a toolbox of ideas for tailoring the lesson to the individual student and works to create a joyful path of learning while maintaining high standards of playing. Her students have been chosen to play in the MacPhail Honors Recitals, Crescendo Gala Recitals and have been winners of the Concerto and Aria Competition at MacPhail.
Susan completed Suzuki training with Caroline Fraser, Doris Koppelman and Fay Adams. She performs as an accompanist at MacPhail and enjoys collaborating with other musicians. Susan is the administrator of the MacPhail Suzuki group piano program with over 300 students. Susan is a member of Minnesota Music Teachers Association, the Suzuki Piano Teacher’s Guild, and the Suzuki Association.
She holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois, a Masters Certificate in Kodaly from the University of St. Thomas and an MBA in Marketing from Indiana University.
