MacPhail Honors Recital Concert Application
MacPhail Honors Recitals are distinguished student recitals. There are Honors Recitals and Junior Honors Recitals. Student audition before a panel of faculty judges in order to be selected for the recital. The judges’ decisions and selection of performers is based on the demonstrated musical and artistic merits of the student at the age and ability level performed during the audition. MacPhail values artistry and musicianship: anything performed artistically and musically is eligible to be selected.

Eligibility
- MacPhail believes that the audition process should be educational. MacPhail strives to provide the best experience possible for all auditionees. All students performing any variety of style, genre, and instrumentation are welcome to participate. Students who audition will receive written comments by the judges.
- Applicants must be enrolled at MacPhail for at least eight (8) hours of private instruction in the semester of the Honors Recital audition and performance.
- Students are eligible to perform on only one (1) Honors Recital per academic year as a soloist and one (1) Honors Recital per academic year in an ensemble.
- Within an academic year (September-May): Students selected as an Honors Recital finalist with a concerto movement or aria may not audition for the Concerto & Aria competition with the same concerto movement or aria. Similarly, students cannot perform a concerto movement or aria on an Honors Recital if they have already performed the same piece on a Concerto & Aria concert within the same academic year. Please keep this in mind if you are planning to audition for the Concerto & Aria Concert.
