This 12-week immersive ensemble invites musicians to explore the rich rhythms, traditions, and collaborative spirit of Latin American music. Open to percussionists, bassists, guitarists, pianists, wind instrumentalists, and vocalists, the course offers a welcoming environment to learn, play, and connect through styles such as Salsa, Son, and Bossa Nova.
Participants will dive into the foundational role of clave and develop a deeper understanding of the rhythmic interplay that gives Latin music its energy and feel. Along the way, students will explore signature elements such as piano montuno patterns, bass tumbao grooves, rhythmic phrasing, and the dynamic communication between rhythm section players and soloists.
In addition to ensemble playing, the workshop emphasizes practical musicianship skills including chart reading, stylistic interpretation, listening, and ensemble communication. Faculty will also provide cultural and historical context to help students better understand the traditions and influences behind the music.
Whether you’re new to Latin styles or looking to deepen your experience in the genre, this immersive offers an engaging and supportive space to build skills, expand your musical vocabulary, and experience the joy of making music together.

- When you’ve submitted the form, our placement team will find the ideal teacher for you, based on your requests.
- The placement team will reach out to you to introduce your teacher and arrange a regular time for your lessons.
