Launched in Fall 2025, MacPhail’s Contemporary Music Program brings together decades of offerings into one program that expands opportunities for students of all ages. The Contemporary Music Program includes offerings in jazz, pop/rock, electronic music and recording arts, songwriting and composition, and world music.
Individual lessons are offered for students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. More than a dozen MacPhail faculty specialize in contemporary styles.

How to Get Started
- Tell us about your musical interests, goals, and scheduling preferences by completing the Student Placement Form.
- When you’ve submitted the form, our placement team will find the ideal teacher for you, based on your requests.
- The placement team will reach out to you to introduce your teacher and arrange a regular time for your lessons.
